Lola's Handcrafted Churros was born in 2022 with the purpose of introducing to the public our interpretation of this traditional, well-known, and delicious dessert by adding new, refreshing, and unusual flavors. The eclectic clash of cultures that is the city of Chicago, along with our Hispanic background served as the inspiration for the textures, colors, and combinations we present in our signature churros.
History Of The Churro
While the history of the churro may be fuzzy, history is more certain when chocolate got involved. Churros were introduced to South America during the Spanish Inquisition in the 1500s.
Around the same time, the Spanish returned to Europe with cacao, which they sweetened with sugar cane to make the kind of thick, hot chocolate that’s perfect for churro dunking. It's a tradition that very much lives on today.

Why Churros?
These fried dough loop sticks are typically rolled in a cinnamon-sugar blend, and sometimes with fruit or creamy toppings. Creative operators are using churros as the inspiration and flavoring for other more common desserts like ice cream and cake.
Once we were set in the Churro concept, we went a little further and decided to elevate Lola's experience by adding a contrasting layer of taste. And that is how ice cream was added to the equation! Featuring the best of both worlds: hot and cold, crunchy and soft. Our famous Churro Loops & Soft Serve offers as many combinations as possible. Our mission is to reach and please even those with the pickiest palates. These are a perfect snack for anyone!
